This picture would not be made without Tea Leaves poem written by the great *beeinthebottle, who's one of my top favourite poets around dA. It's quite a loose interpretation. And if you'd like to know more about the illustration - adult moths of plenty of moth species have no mouth. Moth people, who take place in culture similiar to Yeti's or Chupacabra's, are often said to foresee bad events, or to cause such.

Pencil and watercolour on 30x42cm watercolour textured paper. A tiny bit of white ink for the steam.
I used here only two colours (from two tubes exactly), brown and blue. Quite a nice exercise, I must say.
Shots from work in progress can be found on my blog, as well as the concept sketch.

Hmmn, I thought I had commented on this previously but obviously not! I love all the textures in this, especially in the moth lady's hair, which seems to have a life of its own :P I like that we can't see the man's face, so we don't know what he's thinking about what she's telling him, but he's not jumping up and running away, so perhaps he's fascinated, or captivated, or maybe horrified into stillness... mysterious!

This is one of the reasons I like drawing characters with their faces not visible for the viewer (:

One of my favourite pictures of yours. I like the pictures that tell a story, or hint at some thing mysterious going on.

Great! She seems very creepy and harmless at the same time--like a moth. :)
