Creeping Wednesday #7

Journal Entry: Tue Sep 25, 2012, 10:44 PM

In the seventh Creeping Wednesday feature, all is framed with more or less complicated borders, but they're all nice! This time, some of the shown artworks were suggested by *SandraHultsved, =SingingFlames and *erinclaireb so many thanks to them! For the next feature, I'm looking for creepy spiders! The big ones and the small ones, the fat ones and the thin ones, singles and hordes. The spider theme was suggested by =Eitvys200. Please remember that I'm looking only for Traditional Art pieces - and the less popular they are, the better.
And check #Traditionalists - community project for traditional artists!

3 questions to :iconjankolas:, a fabulous fantasy artist!
What is that attracts you to Traditional Art?
I have always been interested in art. As a child I used to draw a lot instead of paying attention at school. I have always been drawn to traditional media. I did go through a short interest in digital art when I got my first computer, but I wasn’t very good at it. I went right back to my coloured pencils and watercolours. There is something satisfying about the tangible aspect of a physical piece, of putting down the paint with your own brush, and controlling the process of creation with your own hand. When art is hand made, patience is demanded. Time is needed for practice and the accumulation of the skills. Digital art is too perfect, too clean. I like the roughness, even the mistakes, that come with traditional media.

When and why did you start drawing frames in your pictures?
I‘ve always adored the art of Alfons Mucha and loved playing with details. I really can’t remember the time when I started drawing frames, but it was a natural process. I felt that my drawings needed something more and drawing frames was an ideal way to make my works special.

    What are your preferable themes?
I prefer drawing fantasy characters the most. I’ve always been interested in the fantasy world. As a child I was attracted to fantasy books, later movies, so it was very natural to dedicate myself to draw that kind of things. I prefer drawing people (fantasy or real), but I enjoy creating fantasy creatures and real animals too. I always try to put something from the world of nature into my works (leaves, floral ornaments ... ).

Thank you for this nice interview!

Let's speak more about #Traditionalists -  it's a group aimed at giving the traditional art community their own unique voice by giving the traditionalists a place to gather, organize, and inform others with the help and guidance of the traditional Community Volunteer team. The idea behind this project was to open the channels of communication between the traditional community and the traditional CVs so that we can all work together and develop a main hub for all things traditional.
So, to sum it up - to all people loving traditional art - come and join us!

And now... more frames.
